About us

We are Jeroen and Monique, and for 25 years we have dreamed of living and working in Italy. Jeroen was an independent entrepreneur in the financial sector for many years and also did volunteer work. Monique left her job as a maternity care manager to focus fully on our six spacious apartments, retreats, vegetable garden and the maintenance of the property together with Jeroen.

Now that our two sons have left home, we have finally taken that step. We fell in love with Le Marche more than 15 years ago. After years of searching and many viewings, we found the property that felt right for us.

Casal dei Fichi is a traditional farmhouse that has been carefully restored into six holiday apartments, in a peaceful setting with wide views across the rolling countryside. Your spacious, well-equipped apartment provides everything you need for a relaxing stay in one of Italy's less-discovered regions.

The 15-metre heated swimming pool enjoys sunshine throughout the day and is surrounded by a generous terrace, lawns, sun loungers and a vine-covered pergola from which you can enjoy the views.

The landscaped grounds are surrounded by sunflower and grain fields and olive groves, with plenty of places to enjoy the sun or find shade beneath a tree or in a hammock. The panorama includes rolling countryside, medieval towns and the Sibillini Mountains.

Each apartment has its own private outdoor space where you can dine or relax in privacy.

Every apartment has a spacious living room with a double sofa bed, a fully equipped kitchen/dining room, a large private terrace or balcony, a comfortable bathroom and a spacious bedroom. Please contact us if you would like help choosing the apartment that best suits your stay.

Fresh produce for guests: Guests are welcome to pick produce from our vegetable and herb garden, as well as fruit from the orchard and eggs from our chickens. It does not get much more local than straight from the garden to your plate.

Pizza party: Every week we organise a complimentary pizza party. We prepare the dough and ingredients, and you can roll out and top your own pizza before it is baked in our original stone oven in the garden. It is a relaxed evening, often enjoyed with a glass of local wine.

Environmental policy: We aim to be active and responsible members of the local and global community. Our environmental page explains the steps we have taken to make the business and your holiday more sustainable.

Our prices include all stated costs, with no hidden charges.

Why Le Marche?

With its beautiful landscape, Le Marche is ideal for food lovers, beach lovers, hikers and cyclists.

The region has a rich history and combines many of the qualities people love about different parts of Italy, while still feeling relatively undiscovered. More visitors are now discovering this beautiful part of the country.

Why Casal dei Fichi?

• A highly rated place to stay in Le Marche.
• Approximately 10,000 m² of private grounds with more than 60 olive trees, fruit and nut trees, and a large vegetable garden from which guests can pick seasonal produce.
• A large 15 × 5 metre swimming pool with sun terrace and a shallow lounge area. There are sunbeds and parasols for guests, as well as shaded places such as the vine-covered pergola.
• About 25 minutes / 27 km from the Adriatic coast and around 35 minutes / 37 km from the Sibillini Mountains, part of the Apennines.

• Several good restaurants are only a few kilometres away, and there are wineries and olive presses in the area where tastings can be arranged.

• On arrival, each apartment receives a bottle of olive oil from our own olive trees. Fresh eggs from our chickens and a bottle of sparkling water are placed in the refrigerator. The tap water is drinkable.
• 36 solar panels help us reduce the property's environmental footprint.
